Why so beautiful?

A few very short and random thoughts:

  1. I like my new bunk mates :)
  2. I like the kind of life I’m having now :P
  3. The skyline above marina bay is so beautiful tonight (viewing from my house). What a pity I do not have a single image-capturing device.
  4. I want to cook for my friends more often!
  5. I miss WS and DZ.

NI TAMAGO is not MANGO.

If:

X: Number of people who do not know what Ni Tamago is.

Y: Number of people who have not tried Ni Tamago before.

Z: Number of people who do not know how to make Ni Tamago.

Then:

X < Y << Z

Okayy, fine, that is quite duh. Today, I’m really excited to share this piece of news. I have mastered the art of making NI TAMAGO! (on the first try, I must emphasize). This is remarkable because before I started making it, I thought it would be impossible. The making process is extremely tedious, and takes almost 2 days. Yes, not 2 minutes, not 2 hours, it’s 2 DAYS. Incredible, certainly. However, I am not going to do it again because it is simply too much effort for the level of satisfaction. It tastes good, interesting, but not to the extend that I am willing to spend 2 days preparing it. Moreover, it is sold at a market price of .. maybe $0.50 – $1.00? Buying it makes so much more sense than making it.

On a side note, I have come to realise that humans love eggs. No doubt about that. Look at how many forms of eggs are being sold in the market: Pouched egg, scramble egg, sunny side up, hard-boiled egg, half-boiled egg, baked eggs, fried hard boiled egg (esp in malay dishes ), and ni tamago.

A Specialist: A Special List

Had a really exciting day yesterday. Was having dinner with this group of friend at With A Pinch of Salt, and I was hoping that they could redeem themselves from the lousy food quality I had experienced on my last few visits. And as usual, the food wasn’t great (or maybe I’m just too picky), but the prices were reasonable. But there’s one more reason for me to go there now: They serve a cup of melted cheese at the price of $2. And no kidding, the cheese tasted so good! Man, I have a soft spot for cheese. I would  instantly melt together with the cheese.

After that, we travelled to this new ice-cream place call the Little Ice Cream Kafe, which was surprisingly interesting.Well, on the first look, it felt like an integration between Gelare & Ice cream Chef. They were selling waffles and ice creams, milkshakes, as well as the ice cream mixed together with toppings under some metal board thingy which I didn’t really know what was going on. But oh well, the taste was really weird. I had hershey’s dark chocolate flavoured ice cream, it was alright, not too bad, but some of my friends had really weird flavours like orange skin, lavender (which by the way, tasted very much like the liquid air refresher), and stuff. However, those weren’t the highlight of the day. The table behind us was this 2 guys, one of them with a really weird hair style. And it turned out to be:

Seriously.. What’s wrong with him. He looked so much better in the past. Nowadays he’s just getting so weird. Ewwww. I think that happens when the elderly attempted to catch up with the youngsters.

As I have mentioned, it was an exciting night. Activities didn’t end at the dessert place. We continued to burn the night off with a Karaokie singing session at Teo Heng! Oh btw, my last few visits to teo heng hadn’t been very pleasant. A couple of times when I visited the K Studio there, the sound system could not allow me to raise or lower the key of the song. And as a result, I couldn’t sing my Mariah Carey songs! :( Then yesterday, even worse. Because all the rooms uses wireless microphones, sometimes the mic you’re holding on to might get tapped onto another room’s sensor. And that is when disaster happens. Yesterday, when we were singing happly, suddenly got weird voices coming out from the sound system. By saying “weird voice”, I mean when people sang and it sounded awful. And the problem came and went the whole night. So irritating. I still prefer K Box, honestly.

A little about my camp: Recently, I just got to teach the new batch of man on the techniques of a weapon. It felt great, and I enjoyed this kind of human interaction. I think it takes something special to be a good specialist, a special one. One who doesn’t use the old-school methods of disciplining his man (for example, shouting and tekan, which means something like keep punishing in terms of the physical aspect), but rather, using a soft approach which proves to be effective in modern day context. Come on, we’re talking about diplomatic ties nowadays. Deterrence is only bopian you see.

你不知道的….一些事

I was thinking about living in an ideal world. An ideal world would be one where:

I can just sleep when I feel like sleeping (without having to worry about the human clock issue, without having to fear that I’d have nightmares and dreams..).

I can eat as much as I like without growing fat or feeling bloated.

I can keep fit and muscular without doing any exercise. (Dream on… dream on)

I do not have to make a 2 years detour before entering university.

I have the ability to communicate with people with different languages.

I can do all the charity works I want without feeling restless or tired.

Money is never an issue.

There are endless opportunities for me to shine.

ANYWAY: Let me show you ONE great offer not to be missed!

There’s this thing call the DBS DINING INDULGE DINNING MOBILE APP (which is available for download on some Nokia phones, iPhones and Black Berry). Downloading the app allows you to enjoy a wide range of offers, some of which are pretty exciting! I’ve just enjoyed the offer at Gelare: Free waffle with every 2 scopes of ice-cream purchased. That means that I would have a waffle with two kinds of ice-cream on top of it for the price of $7.40. Nothing’s more amazing than that! Click here to find out more! :)

The book and its cover.

So I say, never be greedy. Once again, I did a wrong move. Damnnit. If you refer to one of my previous entries, I have talked about subscribing THE ECONOMIST with Righteous International, and them being them, delayed my order from may to oct (yes, finally I’ve received it – 2 issues at a go – after the numerous number of calls I have made to rush them). And the sole reason why I chose to subscribe from THEM is because of the free MP4 they vowed to give. And tata! It has arrived!

So on the first look on the outside, it is sooo colourful and pretty. The player do look pretty big from the size of the box. I’m excited!

So you know, normally the picture of the product printed on the front of the box is scaled into a smaller size for presentation purpose, and guess what I have found out:

The image of the mp4 player on the box is the actual size (wow, drawn to scale). Thanks so much man. Take a look at my noob 2G handphone screen and the screen of the MP4 – Exactly the same size! How do you expect me to watch any video on it!

I’m so loving it right now.

I appreciate you, I love you, and I enjoy you.

It’s really a pity. I couldn’t be there when she sang! :(

All her songs are running in my mine lately. She’s like my oxygen haha.

Who’s the boss here?

I am pretty much irritated by Singapore’s service standards nowadays. It’s reaching an unbelievable point that sometimes I just run out of words to curse and swear. It is really hard to imagine a first world country still stuck with a third world country’s service standards. U N B E L I E V A B L E .

I ordered the magazine T H E    E C O N O M I S T a couple of months back (and it’s about to hit the half year mark already). The first issue was supposedly to be sent to me latest by August. & and waited patiently, anticipating for the arrival of my dear magazine. After getting disappointed for a few consecutive weeks, the magazine still didn’t arrive. Something MIGHT had gone wrong, so me trying to be a nice guy, I went to email the person about the absence of my precious magazine issue #1. Amazingly or amusingly, there was something wrong with the GIRO and hence they did not receive the money. & hence they didn’t bother to tell me, and HENCE i did not get to read my Economist. Freaking hell. So now who is the customer who is the seller? At that moment I just felt that it seems to me that the half a thousand I’m spending on them was so insignificant and worthless that they couldn’t be really bothered about it. So now Singapore’s service standards have reached a new height yea? This is call the neglect-the-insignificant-because-they-will-find-you-to-solve-the-problem-instead tactic. 3 Cheers for them!

That’s not the end. The gorgeous lady by the name A was supposedly handling my order. After I sort things out with her, I told her that once my order is being processed please let me know asap. You see, I’m anxious to grab a copy to read it during my free time. And surprisingly, or actually not surprisingly, I didn’t get any reply ever since! So just now at 4:55pm, I hurried to make a call to them (hoping to make it before they announce offline after office hour). A deep and dull voice greeted me. Ok actually he didn’t really great me, or I couldn’t really hear him because his voice was so low pitched. Anyway, his service was so slow and dragging I almost fell asleep! Nothing could be more boring than to wait for his service to be delivered and for him to talk to you with that sexy low voice man. If i’m a critic (for maybe some sort of.. voice operator thingy..), I’d give him like half a popcorn out of 5!

Sorry to side track, so finally, I got to know the good news that my order has been processed and I will receive my first issue very soon! But what was shocking was that The lady A, just quit the job, and it’s like she just 拍拍屁股走人 and no one does any follow up! Honestly if you were to ask me, I think this is just totally irresponsible, not just lady A, but the company as a whole. Not for the free mp4 they’ve promised to give me (it was part of the promotional package hehehe), I’d have cancelled my order from them long ago and subscribed from someone else!

Running along the road leading to Marina Bay Sands is just simply amazing! 看起来就好像一切美好的风景都 within your reach! First visit to MBS via running, that is certainly something memorable. Haha.

下一站: Infinity Pool!

Salute you.

It honestly feels like a dream, with 2 kinds of interpretation to this.

It feels like a dream because I actually completed 28km march (or so they say, which I believe it’s much more than 28km). There is this HUGE satisfaction after I’ve completed the march (Horay!). But no, 请不要误会, that does not give me a reason to LIKE route march. I hate it, honestly. No doubt about that. Just suck it up. There were so many moments that I just feel like falling out, waving my white flag high up. But then again, I kept finding reasons to encourage myself. And I continued all the way, miraculously.

Secondly, it felt like a dream because I was so tired I was sleep walking for most of the journey. My eye lids were so heavy that they couldn’t be lifted up no matter how many times I tried to slap myself on the face (the march happened in mid night). And hence I kept drifting left and right, until I banged a friend, then I’ll swing to the other direction. It was crazy. 迷迷糊糊complete the route march.

& let me salute my commanders. I learnt a lot from them this week.

For now, just grab me a wheelchair whenever you ask me out. And for the time being, my favourite restaurant is Carls Junior! Favourite food? Mi Goreng + fried egg!

Whitney Houston really sounds very good here.

萤火虫; Solo-kia

Manage to see fireflies during this oufield/fieldcamp week. Interesting :)

Anyway I just took a nap, and I dreamt that I suddenly “adopted” these 3 little cute kids from all parts of the world. There was this china boy, malay boy, and last one couldn’t recall anything about him. So anyway, they were so interesting and I felt so happy with them around…

Woke up to realise I’m still the only child in the family :(

Only lonely!
